Entrepreneur. An entrepreneur knows what characteristic is involve in order to define themselves as an entrepreneur. Many people use the term “Entrepreneur” and yet they do not really understand what it takes to be a real entrepreneur. It’s more than just “I have my own business” statement to be a successful entrepreneur. That’s what most people related themselves to it.

Here’s some false thought about entrepreneur :

1. I have or I start my own business – This is a big one. Yes, many entrepreneurs does have their own business but yet this is really not what it’s about. You can have your own business but if you don’t run your business like an entrepreneur, then you are jumping off the jet without a parachute.

2. I know a lot about business – I love to learn about businesses. Business magazines, books, audio book and articles. So you’re just another information junkie unless you had successful hands-on experience

3. I have big dreams – Entrepreneurs dream and think big. That is one major factor to kept them moving and brings them to where they are today. Work and make your dreams become reality.

4. They said everyone is borned to be an entrepreneur – This is one I heard. Yes, I do believe statement but you have to improve and grow yourself to release the potential and become one.

Entrepreneur requires guts and determination more than just having your own business. An entrepreneur reveals him/herself by actions. It’s takes character to succeed. The experience of starting and running a business is based on and builds character.

Seven characteristic traits of a successful entrepreneur I personally think is the most important :

1. Independent – Journey of an entrepreneur can be very lonely, you need to learn how to cope with loneliness and it’s an important skill to learn. Be independent and stay strong.

2. Self  Control –  Lots of lots of will power and self discipline. Unlike having a job where your boss is constantly checking on your work progress. You are on your own and you are in control of everything.

3. Confidence – Confidence is king and nothing can set them back easily. They know what they are doing and they believe it’s going to happen.

4.  Honest and Trustworthy – While money and growth is important they still hold honesty. We are what we are and we said what it is. Trust me that people can feel it when you are not being true. Dishonest hurts your credibility.

5. Never Give Up – Don’t ever quit! That cannot be an option for you. Change your strategy or try harder when things doesn’t work out.

6. Keep Learning – Go beyond your limitation by learning more. Do not stop learning because you won’t know what you gained today might turn your business or life around someday.

7. Decisive – You need to make many important decision, sometimes in a very short amount of time. This is why experience and knowledge is important because it will really helps you to make a better decision.

Consider both profitability and your own strengths when starting your own business.
If you want to work for yourself, but don’t have a particular business in mind, you’re probably wondering what kind of business you should start. Fortunately, the answer is always the same: Pick a venture you know intimately, and then research it some more.
Know the Ins and Outs of the Business
Don’t fall into the trap of starting a particular business just because someone tells you, “It’s a sure thing.” Potential customers will part with their hard-earned money only if you convince them that they’re getting their money’s worth, so you’ll need to know what you’re doing, no matter what the task.
Choosing a Business You Know
Starting a business in which you already have experience has many advantages: You can use your knowledge about the industry, your training and skills, and your network of contacts who might help you find financing, suppliers, and customers.

For ten years Steve worked for several different construction companies — first as a journeyman carpenter and then as a project manager. When he got the itch to start his own business, it made perfect sense for him to start a small contracting business specializing in home-improvement. He knew the industry well, including the best places to buy supplies and what he could charge for services, and he had the required skills, such as how to estimate and bid jobs — and it didn’t hurt that he knew how to pound nails as well. The contacts he had developed over the years were glad to talk to him about running a small contracting business, and many customers he had worked with in the past told him they’d be willing to hire him if he were working on his own.

9 Simple Tips How To Take A Relaxing Break

Taking a short break after long hours of absolute concentration is necessary and here’s how :

1. Stretching – Sitting in front of a desk every day can wreak havoc on your body, especially since most of us don’t have the best posture. Relax your tight muscle with a little office stretching.

2. Coffee Break – Yes,  cuppa always calm and give me a sense of relaxation.

3. 20 Minutes of Short Nap – Wonder how 20 minutes can recharge your mental and physical energy? Mental Rejuvenation In 20-Minute Naps.

4. Relaxing Music – Turn on your favorite music ( For me Debussy classical music ) and cool yourself down after all the madness that is going on at your workplace.

5. Breath to Relax :

The most basic skill you need to allow yourself to calm down quickly and relax is controlled breathing. Taking your breathing under conscious control for some time distracts from other stressful thoughts you might have. Some breathing techniques have fast tranquilizing effect. I suggest the following breathing exercise:

  • If possible, lie down or at least sit comfortably.
  • Close your eyes and concentrate your attention on your nostrils, where air enters the nose.
  • Take a slow and deep breath in through your nose. Notice how the air is cold, entering your nose.
  • Hold your breath for a seconds holding your attention on the same spot.
  • Breath out slowly and quietly through the nose. Notice how the air is warm on your nostrils on the way out.
  • Do this for a few minutes, until you let disturbed thoughts go and feel relaxed.
  • 6. Take A Warm Bath – Warm water relaxes you physically, loosening tight, stiff muscles. And, as a result, you relax mentally as well.

    7. Outdoor Time – Sunlight and fresh air have remarkable abilities to heal our spirit.

    8. A Call Of Love – Call your wife, children or your love one and talk to them. ( If listening their voice makes you stress then you can forget about this one ) For me I always love talking to the poeple I love and care.

    9. Water! – I knew people who are always busy with work can go on without consuming any drink or food. You have to stop when it’s time to stop, drink a glass of water to freshen up. Do not for get the “8 Glasses of Water A Day” rule.

Do You Want to Run Your Own Business? Read this First!

Art & business by Hel Des.

Are you considering the life of an Internet business business owner? Well before your eyes gloss over with dreams of endless free time and images of sitting on your couch with your laptop clicking away earning you thousands let me show you the reality of the situation.

A certain image has been promoted of the Internet business owner. It’s often glorified as the great dream, leaving your old job, with the long hours and annoying boss in exchange for a flexible lifestyle that you are in control of.

Well let me tell you – it’s all true!

Well sort of. It’s not by any means easy to do and you lose many things you might have not realised you valued in your old secure job. Let me point out the things you lose that you might want to think about before quitting your job.

    1. Say good bye to a reliable and predictable income.

No job is 100% secure and there is a good argument that being in control of your income via your own small business is more secure than a job (you’re not at the risk of downsizing etc) however it doesn’t feel like that, especially when you start out. Even the oldest most established business cannot be certain sales will keep coming. From week to week you go up and down and are never sure when or where your next sale will come from. You can have great months and bad months and the only constant is unpredictability. A steady pay cheque feels a lot more secure than the ups and downs of your own business.

    2. Your business is your life.

When you leave work you leave work. Most small business owners live and breath their business so they don’t ever really leave work. Now I’ve got it pretty good at the moment because I love what I do and I don’t *have* to work much though I choose to work online a lot. That being said I am trapped to checking my email day in and day out, 24 hours a day, which is not ideal. Chances are when you start your business you won’t be working 9-5 or even 8-6. Early on you will most likely carry the show and until you can justify hiring others your hours will be long and you won’t have a weekend. However if you are smart, set realistic expectations and remember life is a balance, then running your own business can definitely be less work than a normal job, if you choose it to be.

    3. You may never make real money until you sell your business.

An unfortunate situation in many small businesses is that the owner often doesn’t make much more than an average salary, sometimes less. Now if you are evaluating starting a small business based purely on financial rewards then you might want to change your assessment criteria. Many small business owners don’t make a big windfall until they sell their business and often by the time they are making the sale they will be using the money for retirement. Although it is also true that the only way to become really, really wealthy, besides inheritance and lotto, is by starting your own business.

The reality is that only a small percentage of businesses make their owner really wealthy, the rest stumble along earning an average wage. Of course many of those business owners earning an average wage love their lifestyle and only work as hard as they want to. Running your own business has the greatest potential to make you rich and may never make you rich, but here is the important part, your own business is very likely to make you a happier person if you keep your goals simple and aim for lifestyle over riches. Anyone can get rich but the contented people are rich without material wealth.

    4. There is no superannuation, paid leave or sick leave.

You may not think about superannuation very much but it’s nice to know that when you have a job your employer is planning for your future by contributing to your superannuation. As a business owner your employer is you and besides looking after your employee superannuation you are also in charge of your own retirement. This is an added worry that you don’t have when you are working for another business.

Having time off is a concept not familiar to many business owners. Being paid when you have time off is like a dream for a business owner. There are some common myths about business owners working 7 days a week even when sick. If you do things right your business should still function without you when you need time off because of illness or even if you dare to take a holiday. However that being said most business owners find themselves as the most critical wheel in the business system and if you remove that wheel things fall apart. The important skill to learn is that the business owner should work on the business, not in it, but that’s easier said than done and especially early on when funds are tight it’s very like you will be working in the business. Don’t expect a paid holiday.

    5. Workmates

There are no work mates for the solopreneur. You can hire employees that may hopefully become friends but the dynamic is always you the boss and them the employees. If you have been used to working in a busy, lively, talkative office full of peers that share the same perspective as you, with Friday afternoon drinks, group functions and shared time complaining about the boss — you can kiss all this goodbye.

    Okay, that’s not entirely true.

Things are definitely different from working in someone else’s business but I’ve seen many small businesses that have great working environments. The difference is as the boss you have to create your own socialisation. You can do this by creating an amazing business culture where all employees are mates and the office is like a party that happens to get work done too. Of if you do not require employees then it’s your job to make sure you don’t turn into a lonely home based business bum. This means flexing your socialising muscles and organising events with other business people (if that’s whom you like to associate with), making sure you stay actively involved in groups and clubs and that you leave the home office now and then to interact with real live people. Much like everything else with running your own business, you are in charge of your social life too.

A day in the life of an Internet Business Entrepreneur.

Now you are familiar with what you lose when starting your own business you can continue to read my next article about a typical day in my life as an Internet business entrepreneur. Here you can read about what sort of lifestyle you can attain if you choose to start your own business. I’m not saying mine is an ideal lifestyle and there are things I’m working to change, but my example does provide you with a working model of the home based business owner.

Wealth Incapability – How Capable Are You?

    Tue, Jul 7, 2009

This article is written by Patric Chan of SuccessTrace.com. He is a inspiring successful internet entrepreneur from Malaysia.

I really don’t know how to start this article so that it won’t offend anyone.

You see, the more I’m exploring ‘human success’, the more truth I’ve uncovered about human behavior that leads to them success or failure. Sometimes, people cannot achieve success because they think they can.

I know this sounds confusing so let me explain…

If you want to think big, make sure you can be big. I’ve seen people let go of real opportunities because they think these are too small for them – they feel that they deserve bigger opportunities. First, you have to understand the concept of ‘thinking big’ here. Thinking big does not mean that you ignore ’small’ opportunities because most of the time, big opportunities will come once you’ve proven yourself that you’re capable of handling opportunities.

When these people get obsess with their big goals, they miss several steps. For a start, you can get all excited about your big goal and expect people to help you achieve your goal – but in reality, maybe this ‘big goal’ of yours does not seems attractive to other people at all? Because of the over excitement, you’ve forgotten to ask yourself, “What can I do for you so that you can help me back?”

Simple law of success – reciprocity. If you do something for someone, it’s much easier for someone to look into your favor in the return. But hey, if you’re all into ‘thinking big’, what happen to other people’s ’small goals’?

Another problem with thinking big in a wrong way is you get your mind blocked. You don’t want to take advice because you don’t like to hear ‘negative’ feedbacks of what you should or should not do. You’ll say to yourself, “They don’t understand and it’s their lost”. Well, maybe you’re right but if 10 people say you’re wrong – don’t you think you should take some time to evaluate your thoughts again?

You can tell when you meet an over-thinking big person – you say something to him, he’ll nod his head but he doesn’t ‘get it’ and he’ll tell you again about his dream and goal and expect you to do something to help him. :-)

Understand this simple rule of success – if you want to achieve big goals in life, you need people to help you. Big things do not happen with just your 2 hands. For that to happen, you need to understand what these people’s personal goals are. If you can’t help them, then think of what you can give back to them if they’re willing to help you. It could be as simple as paying them money or exchanging other values that you have.

One more thing – I notice that most ‘thinking big’ people do not have the money to do big things. I was once in that shoe, that’s why I know. You see, that’s the problem with all these motivational seminars and books out there. They get people all highly motivated that they can do it but in reality, it’s not happening.

Am I saying that you can’t do big things with no money?

    Absolutely not.

But my message is this – wouldn’t it makes more sense to take advantage of small opportunities to make money first so that it can fund your big goal? Unfortunately, most people don’t think that way.

And finally, you don’t know what you don’t know.

Talk to more people, open up your mind. Trust me, you’ll see things much different then.

I’m writing this is not to rant but with the intention that YOU GET IT and be more aware of what’s going on around you.

How Do You View Your Life and Love?

    Tue, Jul 7, 2009

Recently I stumbleupon some interesting articles and question regarding how a person view life. There is people viewing it at the bottom of the pit by complaining and telling how worst their life is, there is also people who cherish and happy about life. I came to know one of the biggest reason why people are not happy about their life, different people are telling different story but it all occurs to one source. That is “LOVE”.

Call it romantic love, family love or friendship love. It doesn’t matter and as long when someone found out they lost it, it directly get related to their life. Heartbroken, depressed, disappointing, and eventually lead the living without or lack of purpose.

    Why it happened?

It’s because love is one of the necessary needs for Human. Or in simple word.. You need food, water and LOVE in order to survive.

    Discovering Love

“If you demand love from others, you are letting them control your life” – KennethFoo

What if you are depending on someone for food, one day this “supplier” of you just went away and disappeared.  Who else can you rely on for food? You’ll be starving to death because you are always relying and not feeding yourself.

If you pay attention why happy people are always happy. It’s because they are surrounded with abundance love and acceptance. Why does these people have this privilege? It’s no magic but you have to know the rule. Love Yourself First!

    Love Yourself

Why not love yourself first before you demand from somebody else. This is your life, if you don’t even love and appreciate yourself what makes others wanted to do so?

Do you know you can satisfy the needs of love by loving yourself. It’s not a hard thing, you just have to respect and love it.

How can you recovered from breaking up if you do not love yourself and kept on hoping the one who left you to love you back? The only way is to love yourself  first, honor your every seconds of your life and don’t waste it.

So how do you view your life? Are you putting too much hope on someone instead of giving more hope for yourself?

    Live With Purpose!
